UPS Is Conducting A Vast Rolling Lab Experiment To Create The Clean Truck Of The Future

More recently, UPS ordered 125 hybrid electric delivery trucks from Workhorse Group, a Cincinnati-based company that manufactures electric drivetrains for commercial vehicles. The trucks are designed for the start and stop needs of UPS’ urban delivery routes, using a very small internal combustion engine and a lithium-ion battery to provide a 50-to 60-mile range and up to four times the fuel economy of a gasoline-powered truck. They’re on the road in Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
